„Save the Children Lithuania” is a non-political, non-governmental and non-religious organisation established in 1991, which fights for the rights of a child. The organisation has 30 branches in many cities and regions of Lithuania. It is a full member of the International Save the Children Alliance, which comprises 29 members and implements its child rights programmes in more than 115 countries throughout the world.
The Alliance was initiated in 1919 by the teacher Eglantyne Jebb from England who was the first to raise the idea of the universal recognition for child rights and to establish the Save the Children foundation to support children. After this idea has been realized into the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child, our organisation works in order to make Lithuania suitable for children.
We work for the world:
- Which respects and values each child;
- Which listens to and learns from children;
- In which all children have future and perspectives.
To fight for the rights of the child and to influence public opinion.
